Emerald Coast Emergency Care Symposium, which was formally sponsored by Fort Walton Beach Medical Center,

is now known TrauMed: The Annual Gulf Coast Trauma & First Responder Symposium. The symposium is now in the hands

of Jay Brosnan, Mobile Medical Educational Services, LLC., & Safcare, Inc. and will occur once every year in the Spring.

 

Intended Audience
These educational events are designed to present state-of-the-art information for physicians, nurses, dispatchers, first responders,

emergency medical technicians, paramedics, firefighters, law enforcement, coroners, medical examiners, public health professionals,

school administrators, crisis preparedness team, educators and any professional who is involved in trauma care.

Statement of Need
Preventing injury and caring for the traumatically injured patient during an emergency situation is a challenge for all providers

of care. The reality of traumatic situations can cause stress to all responders. Participation affords an experience that can be useful in

everyday practice by all providers of care.

Learning Objectives
- At the conclusion of the events, participants will be able to:
- Discuss and expand the understanding of the incidence, nature and severity of traumatic emergencies and occurrence of injuries.
- Identify emergency care for all traumatically injured adults and children from dispatch to the hospital setting.
- Increase assessment and management of the injured person for all providers of care.
- Relate the benefits of multidisciplinary collaboration in the implementation of community-based injury prevention

strategies.
- Learn from the foremost authorities in emergency health care.
- Speak with leading health care vendors about new products and services.
- Network and share best practice ideas and solutions with colleagues from across the country.
- Rejuvenate, refresh, relax and enjoy the spirit of the emergency and trauma professions

To receive tax exemption, please bring verification of eligibility. The block of rooms will be released to the general public on March 1, 2009.
